Sola Shirai successfully defended his Ph.D. in March, 2024, having been advised by advised by Professor Deborah L. McGuinness. Sola’s main research interests revolve around artificial intelligence topics such as knowledge representation, reasoning, the Semantic Web, and natural language processing. At RPI, he has worked on a variety of projects involving the use of semantic technologies, like knowledge graphs and ontologies, for use cases surrounding personal health and food. His current work explores the concept of “context” – what it is, how to represent it, and how to use it – to enable a deeper understanding of knowledge-driven systems.
