Prof. Vladia Pinheiro has PhD in Computer Science and is a Professor of the Graduate Program in Applied Informatics at the University of Fortaleza (UNIFOR) in Brazil, where she coordinates the Masters and Doctorate programs.
Prof. Vladia has previously collaborated with Prof. McGuinness, publishing articles on explainability and justifications of intelligent agents.
She pursues research on Computational Linguistics, Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science at the Data Sciences and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (LCDIA) and Knowledge Engineering Laboratory (LEC) at UNIFOR.
Prof. Vladia has more than ten years of experience in Research, Development, and Innovation Projects. She has coordinated dozens of projects involving government and industry in the domains of health, public safety, finance, tax, legal, and smart cities.
She was president of the Special Committee for Natural Language Processing (CEPLN) of the Brazilian Computing Society (SBC) from 2013 to 2017. She is also a member of the bilateral Brazil-Portugal Committee for Computational Processing of the Portuguese Language (PROPOR) and the Chief Scientist of the tax authority of the Municipality of Fortaleza, the fourth-largest city in Brazil by population.
She will be working under the supervision of Prof. McGuinness, making contributions in the areas of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a focus on exploring Large Language Models and Deep Learning algorithms in the context of the projects Prof. McGuinness currently leads, as Principal Investigator.
Prof. Vladia will also participate in activities involving Prof. McGuinness's research group, such as research meetings and mentorship in projects developed during Prof. McGuinness's Ontology Engineering Class.
