Please join us as Henrique Santos presents what promises to be a hugely interesting TWed Talk, "Vibe Coding and the Practice of Rapid Semantic Prototyping." Pizza arrives approx. 3:30p, the talk begins at 4p.
DESCRIPTION: This talk introduces vibe coding, an improvisational and AI-assisted approach to software development that values intuition, experimentation, and rapid iteration. By combining human insight with generative tools, vibe coding transforms coding into a conversational process—one where the developer and AI co-create, test, and refine ideas in real time. Through a live demonstration, Dr. Henrique Santos will build a simple web application that queries an RDF triplestore and visualizes knowledge graph data, illustrating how this approach can support agile semantic prototyping in research and sponsored projects.
BIO: Dr. Henrique Santos is Director of Semantic Applications Research at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). His research focuses on semantic web technologies and knowledge graphs for artificial intelligence, data interoperability, and scientific data integration. He has led work on projects funded by DARPA, IARPA, and NIH, including Machine Common Sense, ECOLE, HIATUS, and RCADS. His recent efforts explore how large language models can connect with semantic infrastructures to improve interpretability and reproducibility in research. Dr. Santos holds a D.Sc. in Applied Informatics from Universidade de Fortaleza, with doctoral work conducted at RPI under Prof. Deborah McGuinness. He publishes regularly and serves on program committees within the Semantic Web community.
Pizzas and salads will be delivered at approx. 3:30p; the talk will begin at 4p.
