Dear Diary -- June 27, 2013
Hooray!!! Our First Query! The query illustrates the underlying infrastructure is intact. This is a simple example, i.e. a first step in building the system to support an analyst who works for a consumer advocate organization (such as Good Guy or Consumer Reports). Our simple example is the result of a challenge milestone we set for ourselves, i.e. to get our first query response and thereby demonstrate that we have our infrastructure working. This means that we have successfully deployed a triple store, sparql endpiont, loaded data and are able to execute queries that return data that can answer question a Consumer Advocate Analyst might ask during their research in the process of inspection and certification of fair trade coffee. Here is our very simple, humble, but significant first query embedded into a web page which will become the user interface for the CA Analyst:

PREFIX foaf: <http://xmlns.com/foaf/0.1/>
PREFIX dcterms: <http://purl.org/dc/terms/>
SELECT DISTINCT ?identifier ?email
WHERE {
 ?x dcterms:identifier ?identifier.
 ?x foaf:mbox ?email .
}
