Jim Myers is the Associate Director of Research and Development at the Computational Center for Nanotechnology Innovations (CCNI) and Professor of Practice in Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He received his B.A. in Physics from Cornell University (1985) and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley (1993). He has nearly two decades of experience in the development and deployment of Cyberinfrastructure for research, education, and industrial application. As the Associate Director of CCNI, Myers works to foster the adoption of high performance and data-intensive computing in academic and industrial research and to support industry application of computing to improve competitiveness. Myers is a member of the US Council on Competiveness’ High Performance Computing Advisory Committee and has participated in the planning and execution of multiple large community cyberinfrastructure projects for NSF and DOE. He is also co-PI on a recent NSF Major Research Instrumentation award that will more than double CCNI’s computing resources as well as an NSF DataNet project exploring the integration of data-intensive computing with scalable data integration, curation, and preservation capabilities.
