How do I change instance data created in RDF?

Printer-friendly version

[UPDATED FALL 2021] TW Portal instance data cannot be edited through a UI; you must check out the RDF, manually edit it, and commit your changes:

  1. Check out the instance data from subversion:

    svn co https://scm.tw.rpi.edu/svn/public/rdf2html/trunk/instances/ (RE-VERIFIED: 23 Sep 2021)
  2. Edit and add files as needed. The unix command grep is your friend.

If you create new files, you must place them under version control using: svn add yourfile.name
  3. VALIDATE YOUR RDF USING A SEMANTIC WEB TOOL. w3c validator
  4. Check in your changes: PLEASE use descriptive text for your commit message!

$ svn commit -m "Adding forgotten authors..."
NOTE: You must be a member of svnUsers to commit. Please email John Erickson if you need access
  5. ADMINS:
    • If you are confident in the changes made, ssh into tetherless.rpi.edu and update any committed instance data:
      • $ cd /var/www/html/tw.rpi.edu/instances/
      • $ svn update
    • Finally, run  /usr/sbin/reloadtwc to re-load the triplestore (also runs a brief test query):
      • $ sudo /usr/sbin/reloadtwc
  6. FINAL NOTES:
    • When verifying your changes via Drupal, remember that you MUST FORCE A CACHE REFRESH by editing and saving the Drupal page! This includes query-based lists like the Publications page.
    • When all else fails, query the triple store: http://tw.rpi.edu:2020/query.html
    • For reference see the stored queries: http://tw.rpi.edu/queries
