Semantic Web

Semantic Web is a group of methods and technologies to allow machines to understand the meaning - or "semantics" - of information on the World Wide Web.[1]

Reproducibility and reuse are rapidly becoming guiding principles in publishing and sharing scientific results.

With the rapid advancements in cancer research, the information that is useful for characterizing disease, staging tumors, and creating treatment and survivorship plans has been changing at a pace that creates challenges when physicians try to remain current.

This paper describes the use of Simple HTML Ontology Extensions (SHOE) in a real world internet application. SHOE allows authors to add semantic content to web pages and to relate this content to common ontologies that provide contextual information about the domain.
