Nigel Shadbolt is a Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Deputy Head of the [http://www.ecs.soton.ac.uk/people/nrs School of Electronics and Computer Science] at the University of Southampton, UK. In its 50th Anniversary year (2006-2007), he was President of the [http://www.bcs.org/ British Computer Society]. He is a Fellow of both the [http://www.raeng.org.uk/ Royal Academy of Engineering] and the [http://www.eccai.org/ European AI Association] (ECCAI). From 2000-2007 he was the Director of the £7.5m [http://gow.epsrc.ac.uk/ViewGrant.aspx?GrantRef=GR/N15764/01 EPSRC Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration] in Advanced Knowledge Technologies. He is a member the EPSRC Strategic Advisory Team for ICT and is the Chief Technology Officer for [https://www.garlik.com/index.php Garlik Limited]. From 2001-2004 he was Editor in Chief of ''IEEE Intelligent Systems''.
