Experience with expert systems indicates t … Experience with expert systems indicates that automated explanation of the rationale for computer-based advice is central to acceptance by decision makers. In this paper, we present strategies for computer-based explanation of measurable multiattribute value functions, and we demonstrate these strategies with implemented systems in marketing, process control, and medicine.
