Details

  • What
    • An application that can integrate web resources about semantic web research
  • Who
    • Users are researchers
    • Start from internal users (inside the group)? Probably not. Based on past experience, it is even hard for SW researchers to contribute to a semantic web site.
    • Information providers: most of information shall be collected by programs
    • Most of users will NOT contribute a lot.
    • May follow the pattern of DBLP
  • Why
    • Major challenges to a successful semantic web application: Scalability and User Interface
    • The semantic portal application in our mind will address the both challenges
      • As a proof-of-concept application
      • Also of some educational value
  • How
    • What matters
      • Presentation
      • Organization (of content)
      • Analysis (of data), e.g., statistics, ranking
    • Behind: a tripe store
      • Scalability may be archived by (offline) computing materialized views (e.g. transitive closure)
        • Is it complete for all queries?
        • Update issue (incremental reasoning)
        • What expressivity of RDF is allowed for efficient materialization?
    • Some unique features?
      • e.g., citation work, research topic ontology
