We have been looking at various extensions to SPARQL (both within the standard SPARQL extension mechanisms and actual extensions to the grammar and/or execution engine) to allow the use of SPARQL in varying contexts. These extensions are built on the RDF::Query SPARQL implementation for Perl, and include:
- Querying temporal data (tSPARQL grammar extension along with an augmented execution engine to restrict graph pattern matching to temporal intervals)
- Querying over distributed SPARQL endpoints (starting from DARQ-style service descriptions, allowing automatic query rewriting for a federated environment and including adaptive techniques to deal with unknown, mis-estimated, or changing selectivities or data rates)
