abstract	Work on various extensions to allow the use of SPARQL on new types of data and in different environments.

We have been looking at various extensions to SPARQL (both within the standard SPARQL extension mechanisms and actual extensions to the grammar and/or execution engine) to allow the use of SPARQL in varying contexts. These extensions are built on the RDF::Query SPARQL implementation for Perl, and include:

• Querying temporal data (tSPARQL grammar extension along with an augmented execution engine to restrict graph pattern matching to temporal intervals)
• Querying over distributed SPARQL endpoints (starting from DARQ-style service descriptions, allowing automatic query rewriting for a federated environment and including adaptive techniques to deal with unknown, mis-estimated, or changing selectivities or data rates)
