escience install status

voorhees computer center (vcc)

  • Peter will be having a meeting with VCC regarding separation of responsibilities
  • tw-support-l@rpi.edu - is the general support email
  • ticketing system question. We could set one up for VCC. Or they could set it up.
  • Level of control.
    • On production machines, VCC would have all control
    • Test/Demo - limited sudo for installed packages. Stephan and Patrick will come up with a list of these packages. (Tomcat, Apache, OPeNDAP, MySQL, Pellet)
    • Development machines kept in Winslow, behind firewall, we have full control, VCC handle proxy to those machines for http access.
  • Patrick - DONE - action item to get inventory of software installed on escience machine

svn

  • There is an apache module for svn that needs to be loaded with Apache. This module talks to an svn server.
  • Stephan will look at requirements for svn administration on server end.
  • subversion via apache only works with apache 2


NOTE: We will go with apache 2 on the production machines. If we need OPeNDAP Apache Module then we will move this module to Apache 2, not Apache 1.5

djapana.tw.rpi.edu - sunset dreaming - Peter's development machine. He will provide us with logins for this machine. - DONE

  • coverage to populate new table site/instrument coverage
  • flush the dns cache on the UCAR side of things, Lance can do this so that it propagates much more quickly.
  • Barbara will want to send out an email that says that we've moved to a new machine, tell her not to do this.

  • DONE - email him on Monday, January 5, regarding status, schedule, share google calendar with me, what he needs with me.

esg

  • hold off on signing up for use case groups
  • get ag client and vnc installed for access grid meetings
  • Stephan gave status on RNI. Plan a friendly user release, not just a general release.

opendap status

  • Patrick gave status
  • Stephan is creating project wiki on FogBugz for the attribute use cases
  • Patrick needs to create official use case documents for attributes
