| abstract | TransFER is a formal model to facilitate the sharing of database queries across medical institutions with heterogeneous clinical databases. In this paper, we describe the design and the results of a formal evaluation to assess the utility and generality of the TransFER model. The data suggests that automating the translation of queries across heterogeneous databases has significant potential, but that further work in the representation of temporal semantics and in the optimization of complex queries is required. |
