As Kieron O’Hara and Wendy Hall stated in a May 2008 article in Alt-N, “our understanding of the Web has not kept pace with its development.” Rensselaer’s Tetherless World Constellation is one of the first academic programs that will address the emerging area of “Web Science,” focusing on the World Wide Web and its future use. How can academic programs like this support the goals of the Web Science Research Initiative and best support the future of the Web?
