abstract: This presentation will present the use case methodology that we have utilized in developing the solar-terrestrial ontologies and semantic data framework for the Virtual Solar-Terrestrial Observatory (VSTO). The presentation will include how user requirements and best practices for software design and engineering can provide rapid prototyping of the services as well as user engagement and endorsement. We also present some details on the tools we use in builing the VSTO web portal and web services.
