The context-sensitive pattern-matching task
Abstract In this paper, we compare the methods for In this paper, we compare the methods for solving two very different tasksthat employ explicit models of context: the abstraction of time-oriented dataand retrieval of relevant medical text documents. We define formally andcompare the task-specific ontologies for each problem-solving method. Themappings between these two problem-solving frameworks provide a basis fordefining a more abstract task - context-sensitive pattern matching. Wediscuss the implications for reuse of the knowledge represented in theontologies and inference structures, and we suggest similar tasks that mightemploy the generalized context-sensitive pattern-matching task. d context-sensitive pattern-matching task.
