  • Question is asked by: Ankesh Khandelwal
  • The Question is: Is there a need for a mapping that says that resources with similar local-names are used differently in the two ontologies, along with the difference? Currently, any two resources are different, unless specified. But those that share local-names are special!

Probably, this is more relevant if we have a measure of closeness/ relatedness between two ontologies. Eg1. In Peter's ontology peter:Publication is a property (verb) while for Josh (and many others) josh:Publication is a concept (noun)!. Eg2. Level of generalization varies. In India state refers to sub-divisions within a nation. We are mostly unaware of the concept of nation-state. So an American Student can allow US along with NY, CA, et. al. to belong to concept usstudent:state. For Indian Student US is not a instudent:state, and instudent:state is-part-of instudent:nation. This is in test phase!
