abstract: We explore the use of the delay-coordinate-embedding technique toautomatically construct and use probability forecast models. Thetechnique offers distinct advantages, including coherent handling ofnoise and continuous data, over previously explored probabilityforecast methods (Dagum et al., Uncertain Reasoning and Forecasting)employing Bayesian belief networks. We discuss the relationshipbetween the dynamical systems and the probabilistic reasoningapproaches to probability forecasting. Finally, we apply thedynamical systems method to a multivariate time series of physiologicmeasurements of an infant with adult respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS).
