abstract: Reaction and dynamic replanning are two possible alternatives for a real-time agent faced with contingencies during the execution of a plan. Deciding between the two courses of action is difficult but very important for the global performance of the system. We present here a general theoretical framework that enables the agent to decide whether it should prepare, at planning time, to react to certain contingencies that might appear in certain situations during the execution of the plan.
